3 Tips for a Successful Garage Sale
With spring cleaning behind us and warm weather here to stay, it’s a sure sign that garage sale season is almost here! Are you thinking about holding a garage or yard sale this year? We have a few tips to help you make sure your next sale is a success:
#1: Plan ahead
Garage sales may seem like an easy way to get rid of your old stuff and earn a little extra cash, but holding your own sale can actually take a lot of work! First, you’ll need to sort through your items and decide what you want to sell. You’ll also need to choose a date to hold the sale and advertise with signs, banners, or balloons. Some neighborhoods have scheduled weekends for garage sales, which can help you attract more shoppers to your sale.
Setting up your garage sale will take some time too since you’ll need a few tables to display your stuff, price tags for each item, and a cash box to safely store your earnings. All of this can take plenty of time and effort, so be sure to plan ahead as much as you can!
#2: Be willing to negotiate
People who love garage sales are usually bargain hunters, so you’ll likely encounter some shoppers who will try to negotiate with you on the prices you set. Be prepared for this and know how much you’re willing to adjust your prices.
#3: Donate what’s left to Goodwill!
Don’t worry if you have ” leftovers” after your sale has ended. You can still lighten your load and put your gently-used items to good use by donating them to your local Goodwill!
