Thursday, December 3rd was the occasion of the 2020 virtual “Give the Gift of Good” Holiday Fashion Show event. Held at AMP Studios which sponsored the Facebook Live fashion show event, Marketing team members, Sharon Hannon and Alisha Moore (host of the organization’s weekly Facebook Live broadcasts); were joined by guest model, Juliet Ostrander, to showcase ideas for holiday fashion looks- promoting the idea of celebration even during such a challenging year. The theme of the virtual show, “Give the Gift of Good,” was created by the team to focus on everything #good in our world…especially, #good vibes, #good people, #good gifts and of course, #good will.
As an environmental steward for more than a century, Goodwill is an advocate for renewed fashion looks which promote sustainability. Annually, the organization helps to recycle more than 52,000,000 pounds of donated items, diverting them from area landfills. “The holiday season is a great time to share the idea of “good gifts” from an organization like Goodwill which specializes in the re-use and renewal of clothing, housewares, books as well as collectibles,” said Sharon Hannon, Marketing Director. “The best part is not only are people helping to preserve the planet by shopping Goodwill but also, helping to support our mission of service to people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans.” Annually, Goodwill serves more than 3000 people through its Employment and Training programs and last year, helped almost 1000 to get jobs in the community. Like other non-profits, 2020 has been a very difficult year for Ohio Valley Goodwill and the loyalty of its shoppers, donors and long-time partners has helped the organization to recover financially and position itself for a new year of service.
