On Tuesday, October 6th, Ohio Valley Goodwill will be hosting a Medal Ceremony for a team of athletes with disabilities who are participating in the ” virtual” PigAbilities event taking place earlier in the day. The Medal ceremony is taking place in partnership with Pig Works; the parent organization of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon. The Medal ceremony will take place at Goodwill’s 10600 Springfield Pike headquarters outside by the flagpole at 10:30 am. The six athletes participating in the ” virtual” PigAbilities event and Medal Ceremony will be arriving at 10:30 am to receive their medals. The athletes are participants in Goodwill’s Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) program. This program is designed to provide individuals with opportunities to become fully integrated into the larger community. The team of six athletes, Kristine Agoston, Jordan Gross, Garrett Halpin, Jon Hicks, Phillip Hoover and Elizabeth Steele, will complete their one mile walk/run prior to the Medal Ceremony and will be presented with their medals by the Marathon’s Pig Mascot.
PigAbilities is an empowering option for athletes of all ages and abilities and is an official event within the annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon. The PigAbilities event normally takes place when there are fewer crowds, increased accessibility and more parking. 2020 marks the fourth year that Ohio Valley Goodwill has committed to being the Title sponsor for the PigAbilities event. Last year’s event broke all previous records for participation with more than 400 athletes choosing to finish the final mile of the Flying Pig Marathon. Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to Pig Works for their support of the 2020 ” virtual” PigAbilities event and are very proud of the CARE athletes for their commitment to fitness.
