Looking for a productive and rewarding project to do at home? Why not start with cleaning and organizing your closet?
Throughout the year, it’s easy to let our closets get a little disorganized. After all, we’re busy! This spring is a perfect opportunity to give your wardrobe the TLC it deserves.
Here’s a step by step guide to cleaning and organizing your closet:
#1: Get two boxes and label them ” keep” and ” donate”
Cleaning out your closet doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task. Using two boxes or containers will make it easier to sort your clothes and decide what stays “” and what goes.
#2: Examine items one at a time
Take a look at each article of clothing one by one. Ask yourself these questions to decide if you want to keep the item or not:
If you’re on the fence about an item, it probably means you don’t really want it. Put it in the ” donate” pile!
#3: Donate unwanted items to Goodwill
Now that you know what you want to keep and donate, it’s time to go to Goodwill when we re-open on April 7th! Ohio Valley Goodwill makes it quick and easy to donate clothing, accessories, household items, children’s toys, games, and books that your family doesn’t need anymore.
Your generous donations are resold in our Goodwill retail stores at affordable prices to local neighbors and families. The proceeds raised go on to support Goodwill’s life-changing programs and services for individuals with disabilities. Donating your items instead of throwing them away is also a great way to help the environment! By donating, you’re helping Goodwill to divert millions of pounds of recyclable and reusable goods from local landfills!
Our attended donations centers will re-open on April 7th (pending the Governor’s COVID-19 orders) and we will be ready for you to drop off donations from 10 am until 6 pm daily. Find your nearest donation center here!
We look forward to continuing to be your community partner in helping you to recycle and renew in our efforts to preserve our planet for future generations. We invite you to learn more about Ohio Valley Goodwill and our 100+ year mission of service.
