Friday, February 28th marked the occasion of One City En Blanc, a gala event hosted by new Goodwill partner, OneCity for Recovery. Held at the Manor House in Montgomery, the gala was held as a fund-raiser to support the organization’s addiction recovery services in Warren, Clinton and Butler Counties. Ohio Valley Goodwill created a partnership in 2019 with OneCity on a clothing voucher program to enable individuals to obtain clothing as an initial first step on their path to recovery. For more than a century, Ohio Valley Goodwill has been dedicated to its mission of putting people with disabilities and our nation’s veterans to work in the Greater Cincinnati community. As a long-time proponent of workforce development and helping people to get jobs, Goodwill recognizes the urgency of the heroin crisis and its impact on peoples’ ability to obtain employment.
Ohio Valley Goodwill team members, Ann Krummen, Sharon Hannon and Alisha Moore-Woolfork, were in attendance to help support the organization’s efforts to help people recover from addiction and re-enter the workforce. Hundreds of supporters were on hand to enjoy the music and bid on items at the silent and live auction. The “En Blanc” theme was chosen as a reflection of the organization’s mission to banish the darkness of addiction and light a path of hope. OneCity’s success rate is impressive with outreach to more than 2000 people and 45% entering a recovery treatment program. Hall of Fame former NFL player Anthony Munoz was a featured speaker as he welcomed the assembled guests and provided an endorsement of OneCity’s mission of service to the community. Ohio Valley Goodwill was recognized as a partner with OneCity in its community outreach efforts during the evening’s program.
Our most sincere congratulations to OneCity for Recovery on their very successful gala event and on the success of their mission of helping people in battling substance abuse in Southwest Ohio.
