March is DD Awareness Month and Goodwill Supports Awareness Efforts!

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and nationally, DD Awareness Month seeks to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all areas of community life, as well as awareness to the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live. As an Employment and Training Center for more than 100 years, Ohio Valley Goodwill’s long-time mission is to help people with disabilities to find jobs and to become fully included in their community. The theme of the 2020 campaign is “Live, Work, Go” which reflects Goodwill commitment to putting people to work and supporting involvement in the larger community. The organization works in partnership with local County Boards of Developmental Disabilities including Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren, to provide programs and services which help individuals to become engaged in the Greater Cincinnati community both in terms of social and recreational opportunities as well as through employment.

The most compelling way we have found to help bring awareness to this important month, is to share the stories of individuals we serve and support.
