A new year is almost upon us, and many of us are busy making resolutions and setting goals for 2020. If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to finally declutter and organize your home, Goodwill is here to help!
The new year is a time for a fresh start, so why not use this opportunity to make your home a more beautiful, clean, and clutter-free place to live? Here are some great reasons to declutter your home, and how Goodwill can help you make it happen:

Clutter doesn’t just overwhelm our homes; it can also overwhelm our minds. Psychology Today states that too much clutter can cause our senses to work overtime, making it difficult to relax, both physically and mentally. If you want to stress less in the new year, decluttering is the first place to start!
Save time
Think of all the time you spend trying to find misplaced items like keys or documents. When you’re surrounded by too much stuff, it’s difficult to find ” lost” belongings, even when they’re right in front of you. When you declutter your home and get organized, you’ll ensure that there’s a place for everything and everything’s in its place. It’s a wonderful feeling when you know exactly where to find the things you need instead of wasting time and effort searching for them!

If you’re thinking about downsizing to a smaller home in the near future, the beginning of the new year is a perfect time to get your home in ship-shape. Decluttering an entire home will take a while, so it’s best to tackle it in stages. Focus on one room at a time, identifying what you want to keep, toss, or donate. We recommend keeping a box in the corner of each room or closet for items you don’t want or don’t need anymore. When the box is full, it’s time to donate!

Goodwill makes it easy to clean out unwanted items from your home. Our convenient donation process helps you save time and effort while you declutter. Once you’ve gathered up your gently used clothing and household goods, drop them off at your nearest Goodwill donation center. We’ll take care of all the rest!
When you clear out the clutter from your home and donate your gently-used goods to Goodwill, you’ll get organized for the New Year and make a difference in your community. December 31 is always our busiest donation day of the year, so join the fun and make your donation to Goodwill before 2019 comes to an end! You’ll receive a tax receipt for your donation and the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping to put people to work””that’s a very good thing!
