Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries was pleased to welcome Congressman Steve Chabot to the organization’s corporate headquarters on Friday, July 20th. The Congressman along with District Director, Mike Cantwell and Deputy District Director, Joe Abner visited the Employment and Training Center for a tour of the organization’s pre-vocational training programs as well as to meet with the Goodwill team to learn more about employment choice for people with developmental disabilities served by the agency.
The Congressman and his team met with President and CEO, Joe Byrum, Vice President of Employment and Training, Steve Koons along with Assistant Directors Aimee Rittner and Lisa Schneider. President and CEO, Joe Byrum provided an overview of the organization’s 100+ years of service in the Greater Cincinnati area and the populations that the agency serves in its mission to help people get jobs in the community. In addition, the Congressman was thanked for his long-standing support of the organization’s programs for our nation’s veterans. The Goodwill team then led a discussion related to Employment Choice and support for HR 5658 “Workplace Choice and Flexibility for Individuals with Disabilities Act.” The Congressman and his team were very interested in the topics discussed and enjoyed the subsequent tour of the Work Adjustment Training program.
