This Independence Day, Ohio Valley Goodwill is taking time to remember our nation’s veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our country. For more than 100 years, Goodwill has provided specialized job skills training and supportive services to help veterans bring stability to their lives and re-enter the workforce. In honor of Independence Day, we’re highlighting some of the ways Ohio Valley Goodwill serves homeless veterans in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana.
Homeless Veterans Reintegration Projects (HVRP)
Goodwill’s Homeless Veterans Reintegration projects are employment-based programs funded by the Department of Labor. These projects are designed to help homeless veterans rejoin their community by providing support and assistance in finding employment, obtaining housing and achieving economic independence. Veterans receive case management services, help in accessing community resources, training in computer applications, empowerment skills, and other individualized assistance. Ultimately, the veteran is assisted with finding permanent employment and community housing. Ohio Valley Goodwill provides HVRP services throughout the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana. Services are also available in Adams, Brown, and Clermont counties.
VA funded ” Per diem” residential program
Ohio Valley Goodwill provides a VA funded ” Per diem” residential program to provide eligible homeless veterans with the employment assistance and intensive and holistic services they need to achieve long-term self-sufficiency and live independently. All participants in the program are pursuing full-time employment within their community.
VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)
Ohio Valley Goodwill is also proud to participate in Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), a VA program designed to provide rapid re-housing to eligible veterans who are at risk of losing their homes or have just recently become homeless. Eligible veterans in the program receive assistance from a case manager with job development and placement, as well as assistance in finding safe and affordable housing.
Every time you donate to Goodwill or shop in one of Goodwill’s stores, you play a vital role in helping veterans in the community find employment so they can support themselves and their families. With your help, Ohio Valley Goodwill is able to fulfill our mission of providing veterans and others facing barriers to employment with the resources and services they need to achieve stability through the power of work. Thank you for your support of Ohio Valley Goodwill!
