The 2018 PigAbilities event as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the Flying Pig Marathon on Saturday, May 5th will be taking a new course this year. The Start line will begin on the East plaza level of Paul Brown Stadium for the first time. The new route is a result of other special events taking place downtown during the Saturday schedule for this year’s Flying Pig Marathon. For the new route maps and more information, visit www.flyingpigmarathon.com/pigabilities.
The Finish “Swine” for all races throughout race weekend will be on Mehring Way in front of Anderson Pavilion, just west of the Roebling Suspension Bridge. The new finish line offers great spectator views and is next to Smale Park where we’ll be celebrating Saturday with the Sprint Family Fun Festival. Smale Park will be a great place to celebrate team accomplishments with picturesque views of the Ohio River and downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky!
“Team Goodwill” along with their coaches have been training for the big day on Saturdays at Joyce Park in Fairfield. With more than 70 members choosing to participate this year, “Team Goodwill” is looking forward to joining a host of excited athletes for this year’s PigAbilities event. PigAbilities is an option for people of all ages with disabilities who may not wish to participate in a competitive event, but still want to be part of The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend. Goodwill’s five week training program focused on not only training for the walk itself but also, on the importance of good nutrition and making positive overall fitness choices. The dedicated members of “Team Goodwill” from the organization’s Community Access program braved the cold and snowy temperatures on Saturday morning to continue their training efforts for this year’s PigAbilities event on May 5th.
