March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and this year’s theme is “Celebrate Community.” The theme of community was selected to showcase people with and without disabilities working, going to school, playing and participating in their communities together. For more than 100 years, Ohio Valley Goodwill has been serving Greater Cincinnati as an employment and training center helping thousands of people with disabilities to find jobs and to become fully included in their community.
This year’s theme of celebrating community is particular meaningful as Ohio Valley Goodwill has been selected to join a group of provider agencies as part of the Ohio Provider Transformation Series. Being held from March 3rd to April 15th providers of day program and employment supports across Ohio; including Ohio Valley Goodwill; will open their doors to talk about how they are transforming the way they support people from a facility-based focus toward a community-based one. Ohio Valley Goodwill will be showcasing its own transformational programs on Thursday, March 29th from 10 am until 12 noon at its 10600 Springfield Pike location. Reservations are requested and can be made at (513) 771-4800, ext. 6364.
Transformation-at-a-Glance is an excellent opportunity for providers, county board staff, families, individuals, and other stakeholders, to network, ask questions, and discover ideas to improve services and lives. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 29th from 10 am until 12 noon and plan to visit Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries. We love to share our stories of personal success and community inclusion for all of the individuals we proudly serve.
