For the first time, the community of New Richmond, Ohio in conjunction with its annual Riverdays Festival will be hosting a community donation drive event in support of Ohio Valley Goodwill. Taking place August 19th-21st in the riverside community of New Richmond, this year’s Riverdays Festival is billed as being the best one ever. In addition, to the infamous Cardboard Boat Regatta, this year’s event will feature a 4th of July Parade and Fireworks! Goodwill was delighted when Riverdays organizers reached out to the organization to ask about becoming involved in this year’s Festival as the chosen charity for a new feature of the event called “New Richmond Cares.” Taking place on Saturday, August 20th from 10:30 noon until 5:30 pm, donations to benefit the men and women with disabilities and our nation’s veterans that Goodwill serves, will be gratefully accepted at the organization’s community donation trailer. The Goodwill trailer will be prominently located at the corner of Front and Walnut Streets.
In addition, to the parade and fireworks for this year’s celebration, Riverdays also promises a bigger variety of food vendors, arts and crafts exhibitors, live music and even more boats entered in the 24th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta.
New Richmond has quite a history and the Riverdays Festival is designed to help the community and its neighbors celebrate that rich heritage. Founded on the banks of the Ohio River in September of 1814 by Revolutionary War hero Jacob Light, New Richmond is proud of its heritage and connection to the mighty waterway that defines the village’s contemporary and historic existence. With its magnificent site on the Ohio River, New Richmond soon became a center of commerce. Steamboats were manufactured here and the town became a major terminus during the steamboat era, discharging and taking on passengers and freight. All of Clermont County brought their produce to New Richmond for shipping resulting in the county to be referred to as ” Cincinnati’s garden”. Still a must-see destination for tourists, history buffs and music lovers with its many clubs and eateries along the scenic Ohio river, New Richmond will be the best place to be August 19th-21st.
Join New Richmond in celebrating Riverdays and showing “New Richmond Cares” by bringing a donation on Saturday, August 20th from 10:30 am-5:30 pm to the Goodwill trailer located in the heart of the action. You’ll be glad you were part of the fun this year and at the same time, helped people in our community. For more information, visit http://www.newrichmond.org/riverdays
