It was a beautiful weekend to celebrate Earth Day and Ohio Valley Goodwill did it in the most appropriate way possible by co-hosting two recycling-themed events. On Saturday, April 23rd and Sunday April 24th, Goodwill teamed up with The Container Store for the “Kiss Clutter Goodbye” community outreach effort. The Container Store is the nation’s original and leading retailer of storage and organization products, offering more than 10,000 innovative solutions designed to simplify customers’ lives, save space and, ultimately, save time. The Container Store and Goodwill are working together to help customers declutter, donate and do life better this spring.
Ohio Valley Goodwill donation ambassador Marty Schmidt was on hand all weekend to accept donations from generous donors who looked forward to declutter their homes and at the same time take advantage of great sales.
Ohio Valley Goodwill is grateful to The Container Store for their warm welcome and to the generous donors who took part in the kick-off of this weekend’s Kiss Clutter Goodbye event. The special donation event continues next weekend, Saturday April 30th and Sunday, May 1st and donors have a chance to win a gift card if they tweet the hashtag #kisscluttergoodbyecincy. The Container Store is located at the Kenwood Town Center next to Crate and Barrel.
On Sunday, April 24th, the Goodwill team was out in force to host the 3rd annual Earth Day Electronics Recycling Celebration event at all 31 of its donation locations. This year, Goodwill partnered with Cohen Electronics Recycling on supporting the annual community outreach and donation event. Donation attendants welcomed generous donors throughout the afternoon and collected almost 30,000 pounds of unwanted computers, keyboards, and other electronic items. One family brought an entire pick-up truck of old computer and related equipment to ensure that the items would be recycled responsibly.
The Cohen Electronics Recycling team members educated interested donors on how computers are responsibly de-manufactured by the company for recycling purposes.
It was a busy day but one that Goodwill looks forward to in its on-going commitment to environmental preservation and responsible recycling. Last year, Goodwill helped to recycle more than 49,000,000 pounds of donated product diverting from area landfills.
