The month of March marks the celebration of ” National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness” and is an opportunity to recognize the valuable contributions of citizens with disabilities to our communities. As an agency that has been celebrating the personal success of men and women with disabilities for the past 100 years, Ohio Valley Goodwill looks forward to the month of March each year.
When President Reagan proclaimed March as Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness month, he also issued a personal invitation, ” I invite all individuals, agencies, and organizations concerned with the problem of developmental disabilities to observe this month with appropriate observances and activities directed toward increasing public awareness of the needs and the potential of Americans with developmental disabilities.
I urge all Americans to join me in according to our fellow citizens with such disabilities both encouragement and the opportunities they need to lead productive lives and to achieve their full potential.”
Ohio Valley Goodwill has been dedicated to the cause of helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve personal success through its employment and training programs for the past 100 years.
