February is when pink and red hearts thaw the frosty winter blues. It motivates us to look for ways to show kindness and compassion for our fellow humans “” because showing kindness evokes warm fuzzies for us too!
Here are a few ideas for sharing the love through Goodwill:
It might be hard to believe that a simple shopping trip could be the source of good for so many people, but at Goodwill, it’s true! When you make a purchase at a Goodwill thrift store, you’re making dreams of employment and independence a reality for people with disabilities throughout the Cincinnati region.
But that’s not where the good stops. Thrifting keeps clothing and household goods from the landfill, helps us to be more kind to the earth, and lessens the environmental impacts of manufacturing new items. You can absolutely feel good about your Goodwill shopping trips because when you do, you’re spreading love to your neighbors and our planet!
If shopping isn’t your thing, maybe decluttering is? You can still make a difference by donating the items you don’t need to Goodwill! Ohio Valley Goodwill accepts donations of household goods, clothing, and even cars!
To donate items from your home, find your nearest Goodwill Donation Center, pack up the car, and head there during business hours. We’ll help you unload your car and provide a receipt for tax deduction purposes. If you have a vehicle you’d like to donate to Goodwill, simply fill out this online form to get the ball rolling for your car donation in Cincinnati. We’ll even tow the car for free if it’s not in running condition!
The sale of your donations funds Goodwill’s services for people with disabilities, which include skills training, job placement, employment assessments, and more. These services are the key to personal fulfillment and vocational success for hundreds of people in the Cincinnati region each year.
What keeps us going at Ohio Valley Goodwill is our love for people with disabilities. Goodwill’s mission is aimed at providing them an opportunity to find a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. You can help them feel loved and appreciated too, by acting as an advocate in your own workplace and community. Do what you can to ensure inclusivity for those with disabilities, and speak up if you see discrimination. Your voice is valuable!
When you go out of your way to help others, you’re guaranteed to feel a little warmth in your heart, too. Ohio Valley Goodwill is the perfect partner to help you spread a little love this February!
