It’s the season of giving ““ but remember, not every gift comes with a price tag. As you’re preparing for the holidays, think about giving back to your community with a donation to Goodwill.
Here are three easy ways you can spread good cheer and save yourself a little holiday stress at the same time:
Temperatures are dropping, and most of us have already dug through the closets and storage boxes to find our coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. It seems each year we set an old coat aside to get to the newer version, but this year, resist the urge! Pull out those old coats you’re not using anymore and donate them to Ohio Valley Goodwill. Your donation will make it possible for someone else to stay warm this winter without paying traditional retail store prices. Gently used clothing items and items with tags are also welcome at Goodwill, so you don’t have to feel guilty about never wearing something that’s been hanging in your closet for years!
Don’t forget about the kids’ coats too. When they put on the coat from last year and the sleeves end at their elbows, it’s time to make a quick trip to your nearest Goodwill Donation Center!
After receiving a sleigh full of gifts this holiday season, the next challenge is finding a place to put everything. Do yourself a favor and clear space now! Ask your kids to sort through the toys in their rooms or play areas and choose at least 10 items (or more) to donate to Goodwill. You’ll thank yourself later!
Did you find yourself with too much tinsel this holiday season? Over the years, we all accumulate plenty of holiday ” stuff” that we don’t necessarily need or use anymore. Don’t just put those holiday decorations back in the storage bins for next year “” donate them to Goodwill!
Ohio Valley Goodwill accepts your holiday decorations and resells them in our retail stores, where they’ll get a new life in someone else’s home. This is a much better solution than cluttering up your storage space, and will make next year’s decorating process much less stressful.
Donating to Goodwill is a snap once you’ve decided what to give. Find a nearby Goodwill donation site, hop in the car, and drive up to the door. A Goodwill associate will help you unload, and even provide a receipt for tax purposes. [Please note that like other employers, we are currently experiencing staff shortages and we appreciate your understanding. Please leave your donation if there is not an associate on duty with our gratitude].
When you donate to Goodwill this holiday season, you’ll feel so much better about clearing out clutter before adding new gifts to your home, and you’ll know you’re giving back to your community.
Don’t forget, every item you donate to Ohio Valley Goodwill helps provide vital job training and employment services for people with disabilities and others facing barriers to employment. What an easy way to feel warm and fuzzy this holiday season!
