The first few days of ShareFest 2018 has gotten off to a spectacular start as donations are pouring in from the college community in Oxford. ShareFest is an annual donation drive that prevents usable items from going to the landfill by directing them to social service agencies and nonprofit organizations around the Oxford area. On Friday, May 18th, Ohio Valley Goodwill had already collected one full trailer of donated items. A major sponsor of the annual event, Goodwill provides three trailers on site as well as a donation team.
In 2017, thousands of Miami University students and Oxford residents donated approximately 87 tons of items. ShareFest is an easy way for students to help the environment and assist people in need. This year’s donation drive promises to be one of the most successful ever based on the record-setting initial collection results. “Ohio Valley Goodwill is delighted to be a participating agency and sponsor of the annual ShareFest donation event,” said Jeff Eastham, Goodwill Operations Director.
ShareFest 2018 donations will benefit Butler County and Preble County Success, The Family Resource Center, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati, Lighthouse Food Pantry, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, and the Oxford Community Choice Pantry. Volunteer opportunities are available on the ShareFest website. Some groups may sell donations they receive, but all proceeds must benefit the needs of their clients.
ShareFest is a collaborative effort sponsored by the City of Oxford, Miami University, nonprofit organizations, social service agencies, local businesses, and religious organizations.
