2014 Goodwill Celebrity Golf Outing A Major Success Thanks to Outstanding Volunteers and Sponsors!
Thursday, June 19th marked the date of the 2014 Goodwill Celebrity Golf Outing which took place at the beautiful Glenview Golf Club. More than 200 golfers and celebrities enjoyed the activities of the day which included 18 holes of golf, delicious grill stations on every course, a putting contest with the help of Goodwill’s CARE program participants, as well as the evening festivities. Hosted by Celebrity Chairman Joe Walter for the 14th time, the outing is designed to not only provide a wonderful day of golf for the events sponsors and players but also, to offer new insights into the organization’s mission of service to individuals with disabilities and our nation’s veterans. Walter was joined once again, by Co-Chair, Stephanie Mitchell, who has served as the outing ambassador and co-chair for the past five years. Mitchell is employed at the Kroger Company and receives job coaching assistance through Goodwill’s employment services program.

While the annual golf outing is always a fun celebration filled with contests, prizes and awards, the real purpose of the event is the opportunity to share quality time with the friends and supporters of the organization. This year’s event was no exception as Goodwill welcomed the wonderful volunteer team from long-time partner, Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services who monitored the Hole-in-One stations as well as the Superintendent and Adult Services Director for the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities, along with many of the long-time business partners of the organization. Thanks to Celebrity Chairman, Joe Walter, guests are treated to the opportunity to play with and socialize with a host of Greater Cincinnati sports and media personalities including Dave Lapham, Louis Breeden, David Fulcher, Ira Hillary, Eric Thomas and Mike McConnell as part of the annual fund-raiser.
The day’s events finished as always with sponsor recognition, awards presentations for contest winners, a silent auction filled with amazing gift baskets generously donated and a formal thank you to Celebrity Chair Joe Walter by Goodwill President and CEO, Joe Byrum. “We really appreciate Joe’s willingness to be part of this event each year and to share the story of Goodwill and our mission,” said Byrum during his remarks. “We would certainly invite any and all interested guests to visit our headquarters and learn more about the Goodwill mission in action,” added Byrum.
