Team Goodwill Ready to FLY for 2018 Pigabilities!

Hard to believe but it’s time for the official launch of the 20th Anniversary celebration of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon this weekend on May 4th through May 6th. As the Title sponsor for the PigAbilities event, Ohio Valley Goodwill is especially excited about the hundreds of athletes of all abilities who will be participating on Saturday, May 5th. PigAbilities is an empowering option for all ages and abilities and participants commited to going the distance by making healthy choices in their lives. The PigAbilities event takes place when there are fewer crowds, increased accessibility and more parking.

The dedicated team of athletes from the organization’s  Community Access program have been busy training for the big day on Saturday, May 5th. With more than  100 members choosing to participate this year, ” Team Goodwill” is looking forward to joining a host of excited athletes for this year’s PigAbilities event. PigAbilities is an option for people of all ages with disabilities who may not wish to participate in a competitive event, but still want to be part of The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend; especially for this year’s 20th Anniversary celebration.   Goodwill’s five week training program focused on not only training for the walk itself but also, on the importance of good nutrition and making positive overall fitness choices.

Members of ” Team Goodwill” overall are involved in Goodwill’s community-based programs including Community Access; the award-winning Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) program and Work Adjustment training. Participation and inclusion in a host of community events of interest to program participants are the hallmarks of Goodwill’s community-based programs. In addition, Goodwill’s ” Pig Pop-Up Shop” is always a feature at the two day Flying Pig Expo at Duke Energy Center. The Pop-Up Shop is always filled with an incredible selection of running and work-out gear for the whole family and at remarkable prices! Stop by the ” Pig Pop-Up Shop” and SAVE at the Flying Pig Marathon Expo on May 4th and 5th.
