Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries was pleased to partner with Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services and the Center for Independent Living Options to present the 2016 Candidate and Issue Forum. The nonpartisan election forum was held Tuesday, October 4th from 6:30 pm – 9 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church and was an opportunity to hear directly from candidates running for public office at the federal, state and local level.
More than 25 candidates filled the event space and provided an overview of their platforms. Welcomed by HCDDS Superintendent, Alice Pavey, the Issues and Candidates Forum was very informative for all attendees present.
Ohio Valley Goodwill’s representative, Sharon Hannon in partnership with Kat Lyons, Center for Independent Living Options (CILO), were in charge of the Voter Registration table and assisting voters with checking their registration status.
The forum was well attended by local candidates running for office including State Representatives, County Commissioners, Judges as well as issue ballot representatives. Guests at the Forum asked the candidates a number of questions related to their positions on disability-related concerns and funding for services moving into the future.
Goodwill has been supporting the 2016 Voter Education and Registration effort this Fall by hosting a series of events at its corporate headquarters as well as satellite locations in the Greater Cincinnati area. The organization was very happy to have the opportunity to partner with Hamilton County DD Services and CILO on the 2016 Candidate and Issue Forum on October 4th.
