On Monday, July 28th, Ohio Valley Goodwill was elated to welcome several hundred of its long-time friends and supporters to its headquarters in Woodlawn. The reason for all of the excitement was a celebratory reception held for Goodwill CEO Joseph S. Byrum on the occasion of his selection for the 2008 Goodwill Industries International Kenneth K. King Management award.

The prestigious King award is presented to a Goodwill executive in recognition of outstanding management abilities and accomplishments. The award recognizes a CEO whose performance consistently demonstrates strong organizational impact related to mission, excellence and sustainability.

Of particular note is that Byrum was selected for recognition this year which also marks his 30th year of service to Ohio Valley Goodwill.
"We are delighted that Joe has been selected for the very elite Kenneth K. King award," said Board Vice-Chair, Jim Armour. "He has certainly proved his leadership skills over the past 30 years and has helped thousands of individuals to achieve economic self-sufficiency," added Armour.

The reception served as the opportunity for many of the organization's partners and friends to congratulate Joe on his achievement. In addition to the attendance of celebrity spokesperson and board member Joe Walter, Christine Hurr, Superintendent for the Butler County Board of MR/DD, Kate Hawkins and John Romer from the Hamilton County Board of MR/DD and Vince Palmer from the United Way, Goodwill's board of directors, staff members and Service Guild members were all excited to participate in the noteworthy event.
