Affiliation and Accreditation

Working as a partner with Goodwill Industries International, Ohio Valley Goodwill is a member of a large world-wide network of more than 200 Goodwill organizations helping people in more than 37 nations world-wide. Started in 1902 by the Rev. Edgar Helms in Boston, Massachusetts, Goodwill Industries grew from its humble beginnings 100 years ago to the international human service organization it is today.

Accreditation:

For the third consecutive time, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries has received a three-year accreditation from CARF (the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) with no recommendations for improvement. This is the 12th consecutive three-year accreditation Goodwill has received. This accreditation is an indication of the organization's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served. The CARF surveyors made no recommendations. This is an extraordinary accomplishment, as only 3 percent of CARF surveys result in no recommendations and Ohio Valley Goodwill has now received three consecutive surveys with no recommendations over the past nine years.

Staff team demonstrated a strong commitment to continual process improvement
Organization gathers input from a wide variety of sources and utilizes in the organization’s planning processes
Mission permeates the daily activities of staff and the manner in which they work with individuals served
Well-qualified, trained, professional and enthusiastic staff members who are dedicated to the organization and the persons served.
Excellent safety program developed to maintain a safe environment for persons served, personnel and visitors
Well-deserved reputation that reflects a genuine commitment to meeting the needs of individuals and going above and beyond to provide quality services.
Persons served are complimentary of services received and express confidence that newly learned skills will improve personal life situations.
Focus on personal advocacy, choice-making and participant input are reflected in service design and delivery
Excellent job development planning and job coaching support services
Excellent use of retail operations to provide realistic employment and skill training opportunities
Rights information is shared liberally and in alternative formats as needed
State-of-the-Art curricula that keeps persons served on the cutting edge of their reflective fields of study.

Expemplary Conformance to the standards include:

Center for Advocacy, Recreation and Education (CARE) program for its leadership, diverse program day and regular opportunities to enhance individual experiences both within the facility as well as the community
Goodwill transportation program for its extensive safety program and exceptional desire to ensure that vehicles are accessible to the various populations served.
